BEAUTIFULLY STRONG

William Shakespeare

"From women's eyes this doctrine I derive:
They sparkle still the right Promethean fire;
They are the books, the arts, the academes,
That show, contain and nourish all the world."

Women fascinate me. Their beauty--in art, society or popular culture--is celebrated on a physical plane, but my art seeks to show their inner world of strength. Despite the wear and tear of time, the toll of external pressures, and the weight of their inner struggles, my women are luminous, projecting strength and dignity.

Ultimately, my portraits are a projection of my subconscious, one I would not know how to access if not for my art. I see myself in all these women. In their imperfect, yet beautiful, faces I see the many facets of my being, making each, in effect, a self portrait.
